Here's the AV Club's list of Top 20 Films of the year:

Although I often do some Oscar-time catchup come February, at this time of year I typically look at such lists and realized how few I've seen. When I was in college or newly married, I used to make it my business to see great films in the theaters. That morphed into seeing Disney films with kids which then morphed into seeing Marvel/Star Wars films with the family. Not a bad thing but have not fully returned to the cinephile I once was - at least in the theaters. Streaming has helped. But, damn it, there's never enough time! ;)

Still, this year I have seen some goodies!
Get Out, The Last Jedi, Dunkirk, Logan Lucky, Baby Driver. Sadly haven't caught Logan yet. Also probably three of the top 20 on this list haven't even been released outside of LA or NYC.

I think the biggest (and most pleasant) surprise was Baby Driver - wonderful film. The opening scene is killer.
Logan Lucky got some mixed reviews but the folks who did enjoy it REALLY enjoyed it and count me as one of those. The humor is so dry and quirky; the cast was wonderful (I don't even enjoy Adam Driver or Channing Tatem that much). Daniel Craig is hilarious. And hey! Elvis' granddaughter!
Catch either of these if you haven't already

Like you, and for the same reasons, I don't get the opportunity to watch Oscar caliber movies in the theater. I'm surprised that so far I've seen only one film on that list, Get Out. And I just saw that yesterday. I'm even more surprised that I haven't heard of 13 movies on that list.

On the positive side of the ledger, I plan to see The Last Jedi today or Sunday, and John Wick 2, Baby Driver, and Logan during the next week or two.
