Coincidentally, this afternoon I asked the kids to compose lists of resolutions. Not hard and fast resolutions, but just things they think they might want to do/accomplish in the coming year. I doubt we'll even revisit them after the next week or so, but it was interesting to see what they came up with.
Cultural Resolutions? Again, going off the assumption of more of what I'd like to see happen than things I plan to move heaven and earth to accomplish.
1) Visit museums more. I often yearn to stroll through a museum, but it seems like it's been a year since I last did so. I'd love to do so at least once a month for 2018.
2) Read more. I set and met a Goodreads goal of 20 books for 2017. I don't foresee the opportunity to read significantly more in 2018, and I'll probably set the coming year's goal at the same amount. However, I'm hoping to hit 25 books.
EDIT: Also, I've had a goal the last couple of years of reading more books by non-American authors, and/or books featuring non-USA locales/characters. 7 of my 20 books for 2017 fit that description. I'd like to increase that to 10. We shall see.
3) Live Entertainment. I want to attend at least one concert/play per month for 2018. If I had my full druthers, that number would probably total 18 rather than 12. It's just so fun to do these things with the kids as they age, I don't want to let the next few years dash by without spending time with them (together and one-on-one) at various live events.
4) Rearrange my TV time to accomplish two things. a) almost-binge watch various series that I want to catch up on. For instance, I want to try Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. b) I want to make a concerted effort to watch a few film classics I've never seen, such as the Godfather trilogy, Schindler's List, Casablanca, Good Will Hunting, and others.
