Penguin suggests the unavailable disc pairing New Orleans trumpeter Carey with trumpeter Lee Collins
Still this set of a similar time frame (mid-1940s) is a really nice comp of Carey's skills (many of this with trombonist Kid Ory)

Wooden Joe Nicholas - Wooden Joe Nicholas
New to me - Nicholas was a New Orleans jazz trumpeter/cornetist starting back at the early 20th century forming his own band in 1918 - he stayed active though did not record until 1945 at age 62 (then recorded again in 1949 at age 69 a year before his death). Another great example of that early jazz style
