Photo sizes

Every time I go to post a photo I took with my camera, I get a message that the file is too large. Photos taken with my phone are fine.
Is there a way we can "up" the size of accepted photos? What is the current limit? Do I have to down size my photos in Photoshop if I want to post them?

edit: Actually, I just tried to post a photo from my phone and got the "too big" message.

Good question. I had the same problem with a cd scan. We'll take a look at the settings to see if there's a fix.

I just upped the attachment file size max to 2048KB (2MB). It that enough?

It was 1024KB before.

I just tried posting an unresized 4MB picture. That is too big.

This why using photo apps (Instagram, Imgur, etc.) and the media embed button work well. No size issues.
