Random Movie Thoughts

Memory is a funny thing. Today on the train I heard two guys discussing a movie they both loved. Goldie Hawn joined the army and became a hero on D-Day. The title? Saving Private Benjamin.

The only thing I can remember from that movie is the guy that calls her "Praybit Binyimin".

I just found out about a website called Kanopy which allows you to stream movies that are in the digital collection of your local library (as I understand it) for free. They like to promote that they stream thought-provoking movies, so I don't think you will find any "Fast and Furious" type movies. While scrolling through, I did see a number of films that I had wanted to see before we got rid of Netflix. Now I can! For free!

Go to www.kanopy.com and enter your name and email address. They will then email you an activation link. You just need to enter the name of your local library and you are off! Our town doesn't have a digital collection, so I entered the main library in Providence. They are on it!

Now I am wondering if the movie selection is different among libraries. Maybe I should make a second account and enter the New York Public Library as my local.

edit: Nope. Has to be a library where you have a card.

Just an FYI: In MA, all residents are entitled to a digital library card from the Boston Public Library and it can all be done online. Maybe RI has something similar?

We do too. But for some reason, this doesn't work. My local library isn't on the list, so I put Providence, which is. When I tried to watch a movie the other day, it said that I don't have a card there. Hmmm. I can get digital and physical books there via my local library card. Why not the movies?

Can you sign up online for a card from the PVD library?

Probably, unless you have to be a resident of the city. I should check. We get stuff from there and other libraries around the state through inter-library loan.

Aorta let you know, you have a "warn" button below your post.
Is this like one of those automobile dashboard lights that comes on to say, "Your tire is deflated" when it really isn't?

Maybe I should have opted in to be a Staph member. :axo:
