Upgrade!

Our forum software has been upgraded again. The changes are mostly behind the curtain to make the software run better. Things like “don't swallow errors when taking CLI add-on actions that set is_processing. Ensure the full trace is printed and an entry is logged.” Ok if you say so.

Kai says there is an issue with media posts but he’s working on it.

We are now running the latest and greatest version of Xenforo, our forum software. You can see that the site looks visibly different. Here are some of the other improvements:
  • Native push notifications on supported devices/browsers
  • Editor button management
  • Enhanced editor integration and advanced BB code option syntax
  • Tables
  • Reactions
  • URL unfurling
  • Emoji enhancements including an improved smilie menu with easy emoji access
  • Video uploads
  • Content bookmarking and sharing
  • A fully featured REST API
  • BB code and rich text editing for profile posts and comments
As our favorite breakfast restaurant always says, “nothing but the best, for the best!”

So basically, "reactions" are a more nuanced version of the dislike function I see on one other Xenforo forum? Should be interesting. :p

I dunno. Have to check it out.

This site has had the feature of being able to dislike posts for a long time. People would get upset sometimes when they got dislikes.

@Unsomnambulist , you are way ahead of me. How do you:

- unfurl a link?
-react with an emoji?

If by "unfurl a link" you mean show that little block of information about SBAF, I just posted the link to their front page and it was done automatically.

To react with an emoji, just hover the mouse pointer over the like button and you will see them pop up for you to choose.

Good question, @Nickyboy.

Normally a link looks like this:

https://www.patinagroup.com/patina-restaurant

BORING!

But an unfurled link looks like this:

Tres délicieux! :nickyboy:

Well behaved websites do this automatically. Just post the link without using the link button. Voila!

See this?

It automatically appeared on the MG when I posted the URL of that site. Both the MG and SBAF are run on Xenforo software, though SBAF is much more heavily modified.
Maybe, but they still use the generic Xenforo logo. :vic: WE have a custom one designed by our friend Marc:

Oh, I wasn't saying their modifications were preferable. I quite like our setup here. I think it looks nicer.
