we watched "Elle"today.
Hmmm. what to say? It was a typical French movie, in that it was over two hours and basically didn't tell any narrative. The story started, stuff happened, and the story continued, and then ended. Huh? I feel like I need my two + hours back. This was a slice of life film I just didn't care about that slice of life nor was I pulled into it.
Meh. Well done for what it was. Isabelle Huppert is great at playing a mentally deranged person. But....not for me. Shallowgal would love it though.

Hell Or High Water (2016)
Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine and Ben Foster. Per IMDb: "A divorced father and his ex-con older brother resort to a desperate scheme in order to save their family's ranch in West Texas."
This weekend, Mrs. Ojai and I decided to catch up on last year's Best Picture Oscar nominees. This one is watchable but we can't imagine how it got nominated for an Oscar. Basically a remake of Fargo without the dark humor.

"Despicable Me 3" with the family.
About as "meh" as "Minions" was.

Watched the documentary on trumpet player Lee Morgan "I Called Him Morgan" on Netflix last night.

This was a really violent and dark one. I still don't know if I liked it or not.
I started watching that a while back and quit after 30 minutes or so. Something about it seemed very off to me.The Great Wall 2017
Monsters, Matt Damon, archery and gunpowder. 2.75/5 stars
