5.0 out of 5 stars Cenotaph and Requiem

Death in Rome is no Venetian affair. Besieged by ruins, repairs and labyrinths of concrete, little or no salvation is on offer. Years ago - March 28, 1974 – pianist Dino Ciani came to grief in the Eternal City. He was 32. As someone who has braved the Umberto Tunnel as a pedestrian, I had wondered if that notorious roadway was his Place of the Skull – rather, as I’ve just learnt, it was the Via Flaminia whose malice dates back to the days of Antiquity. What a waste! What an irredeemable, godless waste! Reader, I hear what I hear. Ciani’s K 466 from February 1972 with Bellugi is the Word. Not even Richter is peer. I was heartened when a beloved correspondent wrote “Katchen was a powerful pianist with a magisterial technique, His early demise . . . was a loss to the musical world as was that of Ciani and Lipatti. By the way, when I lived in Italy years ago, I heard Ciani twice in two recitals. They were marvellous, he had it all! Better than Pollini for sure.” As someone who has never been overwhelmed by Uncle Maurizio, could one suggest that he’s the Peter Schreier to Ciani’s Wunderlich?

Among other things, Ciani’s April ’72 survey of Debussy’s Preludes keeps his memory ever-green. I love it. Above all, they are subtle, chimerical and translucent. As it takes something more than blood and bone to encompass them, they bespeak our wider deportment. La Cathédrale Engloutie is more magical than Merlin. Tamás Vásáry’s fillers hit the mark; they’re distinguished too. Boosted by Original Image Bit-Processing, sound is praiseworthy in both instances.

Just as Vespasian ordered his attendants to prop him up from his death-bed as it befitted a Roman emperor to die on his feet, this is how this firebrand artist would want to be remembered – not as a kerbside horror but afire in some shadowy café in Montmartre where Gallic insouciance could be the answer to everything.

P. S. I happen to like this review.

P. P. S. I am still trying to figure WTH it is all about.

Harmony seems to be a forgotten part of modern music.
This is just a gem.
The voices mesh together like silk and honey.

Honey, you've got to work on those metaphors.

P. S. I think I'll go sleep at a motel. :vic:

3.0 out of 5 stars One recommended piece of recent music
Reviewed in Japan on January 8, 2017

This album isn't that bad. As the person himself says that DBClifford is influenced by Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai, the impression of the song is also Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai There are many things that remind me of it, and it is an album that makes me think I should listen to it again and again. Basically, I'm a fan of 1970s music, and there are many albums that I don't want to listen to recently repeated music, but this album called RECYCLABLE by DBClifford is different That's it. I would recommend it to fans of Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai.

"tekie, great rhythms. I would recomend this especially since the "skipping" sounds are done with the beat, the firsttime i put it in, i thought i received a bad copy and would need to write to the label complaining. its supposed to sound, on a few tracks, as if you are fast forwarding an old cd player, and it works out perfectly. I am gonna have so much fun playing this for company, just to hear them say, "uh... your cd player is skipping""

It's just an smooth as you think and the dc sounds better than the other dcs that shimano makes if you have the money get it but if not look at there cheaper models its by far my favorite reel I have and I have a couple in this price range but this is the best of the best handles large fish like its nothing its my new go to reel. It's a bit larger than I like but that's my only problem. Smoothest reel I've ever had and handles big fish with no problems it's my best reel in my arsenal

Misplaced reviews are hysterical.

TIL that Japanese bicycle component maker Shimano also makes fishing reels.

Today I learned that Japanese fishing reel maker Shimano also makes bicycle components.

Yeah, I was reading that review and saying "what the hell do fishing reels have to do with music"? There's a punchline just waiting to be written there.

"Blondie is better than this filthy CD. Their hit's Ooh Danny, me do, I'm in love with you Danny, me doo, and Rapture are a joy to behold.

Unlike this damned CD. So horrile with sad theams like Breeze the heir and Brian The Match, so horrible!
