Van Morrison - Three Chords And The Truth (2019)

Pitchfork sez this is Van The Man's 41st album. Maybe so. Be that as it may, he reaches way back to the soulful style of the "Band And Street Choir" days for a timeless set. He simply refuses to age.

RIYL Van Morrison ;)

Not on Spotify

Hiromi - Spectrum (2019)

Hard to believe that this is Hiromi's 11th album. She just gets better and better over time. After several trio projects and a live duet recording with Edmar Castaneda, she's back to working solo. Hiromi simply overflows with fresh ideas here, maybe a bit like Art Tatum. Attention @Zeeba Neighba!

:5.0: on the Sam-O-Meter. Don't miss it!

Aw, gee... After hearing her Duet with Chick and Move with her trio project, I was sorta hoping that I might like it.

I'll just wait for the next one. [heavy sigh]

One summer during college I had a summer job at a large bakery in Chester, PA. I had to show up for work at 2am to help with the baking, frying, kneading, etc. Around 6am, I would load up the delivery van and make the daily deliveries to the local hospital and the three stores the bakery owned in Delaware County. The van only had an AM radio. I think they played Williams' "Can't Get Used to Losing You" every 25 minutes, at the minimum. Any time I heard that song, I immediately feel myself in that van, driving over the hills and back roads as the early morning sun comes up, on my way to deliver poppy seed pastries, rye breads, doughnuts, crullers, and all sorts of Russian specialty baked goods (the owners were Ukrainian) to the stores so the good people of Delaware County, PA could have something tasty with their morning coffee.

Time for some serious Hanky Panky! I'm super excited. Tommy never got credit for being more than just a bubblegum popster. This box should set the record straight.

Ima gunna let you get the TJ.

I'm more interested in the TJ&tS.

It's not unusual, but "Crimson and Clover" has always been closer to my heart.

P. S. I have the gift of crystal blue persuasion.
