Random Movie Thoughts

We watched "Don't Look Up" yesterday. A perfect commentary on the state of the US today. Some very funny scenes, but over all depressing, both for the topic and how well it hits the nail on the head.
We also watched the short Netflix series "The History of Swear Words", which had some seriously funny content. I hope it continues, because some in my regular rotation were not discussed.
On Friday we watched season 1 of a German suspense thriller called "Kitz" (set in Kitzbühl, Austria). I don't think you would follow it.

I thought I would put this here. I did not even scan past #97.

By the way, if you like this thread, we probably can't be friends.
I've seen 33 of them. There are a handful of very good ones in there, in my opinion.

We watched "Rhapsody" the other day, an Elizabeth Taylor movie from 1954, when she was in her "in between years" as a movie star. The blurb said it was set in Switzerland, but aside from about 2 minutes of her running down a street in Zurich, it was all sets, no doubt in Hollywood. In the story, she is torn between two men who are in music school. We get an awful lot of them performing full pieces by classical musicians, which helps to pad the movie. Also, Taylor spends an inordinate amount of time staring wistfully into the distance in many scenes. What? You've never heard of this movie? Neither had I. And now I can see why. One star from me.

This reminds me of the parting scene from my last marriage.

I told my panicked, fleeing wife: "We'll always have Perris."

She said, "Yes, I know. That is precisely why I'm leaving you."
