Electrelane - Rock It To The Moon (2001)

This one is literally a blast from the past (at least my past). It was quite popular on eMusic back in the day. Passionate, vibrant and vigorous, it's not exactly Krautrock, not exactly punk or classical music, but combines elements of all three.

It is on Spotify, though they have the wrong year.

Coolness, Rick! I am familiar with Axes and Shouts and Calls, but never have heard their first.

Listening now. I may have to split this into two evenings, but I like what I'm hearing. :thumbsup:

Wasn't Electrelane a vacuum cleaner? Oh, no. That was

This record doesn't suck at all. In fact...

:heart::heart:I LOVE THIS ALBUM!:heart::heart:

And good night Music Head, wherever you are.

I like it very muchly.

I give it :axo::axo::axo::axo: on the axometer, which is a positive finding, even if it looks painful. [What do you take for a haddock?]

Positives: It's in my wheelhouse, the sort of thing I would listen to on my own. It's psychedelic. Like... wow. Part of U.O.R. reminded me of Yo La Tengo.

I can't dance to this album, or even imagine what that would look like. Then again, I can't dance. Wait, that's a negative... for me.

Negatives: I could have lived without listening to the hidden track. That added nothing.

Kudos to Rick for picking a winner. :boxing:

Fourth pick and, personally, I loved listening to all of them. All interesting; none bad

Unlike Axo, not in my wheelhouse. Played this right after The Piper At The Gates of Dawn earlier in the week and saw a lot of Pink Floyd in it (including the dog sounds at the beginning . Agree with Axo about the Yo La Tengo similarities too. In fact, there's a lot of many things thrown in here - carnival sounds, Peter Gunn Theme guitar licks, etc. Overall a very interesting sound and vibe. Kind of a psych ambient?
Not my usual thing, but sometimes it's good checking out things that aren't your usual thing
:3.0:

This was a bit outside my comfort zone. I could see the Pink Floyd artsiness influence, but Floyd also does a lot of traditional rock and roll stuff in their music that keeps me engaged. Like, having a melody. I enjoyed Film Music and Gabriel. But the rest seemed more like art than music -- you had to understand what they were doing to appreciate it. And I felt like I didn't really get it.
