The Mojo Collection: The Ultimate Music Companion

Bad Company - 10 From 6 (1979)

As we're nearing the end of the 70s, gonna sprinkle in several comps Mojo has included from the era.

The Roches - The Roches (1979)

My goodness - I had this album on CD but honestly haven't played it (or even thought about it in over 30 years). So happy it came up here, because it's a wonderful album highlighting the sisters' great harmonies and wickedly fun humor.

Marianne Faithfull - Broken English (1979)

Two thinks I'm mildly embarrassed about just learning
1) Faithfull's name has two ells
2) Marianne Faithfull is not a stage name but her birth name

Not to jinx things, but given the amount of drug use and health issues (breast cancer, Hep C, Covid-19), great that she's still kicking at age 75

The Definitive Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart - The Definitive Rod Stewart - album cover
Some guys have all the luck, but that does not necessarily reflect Rod (the Mod Superstar) Stewart's output, at least in Mojo's perspective.

I would have pulled for inclusion of Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, or even Never a Dull Moment, but recognize that they don't contain his bigger, later pop hits.

I suppose the first cuts are the deepest. Stewart could not remain forever young. Nowadays, I don't wanna talk about it.

:D
I agree - all three of those albums are winners and the omission of Every Picture seems odd as it has a number of well known hits

But, you're right, this includes a lot of Rod's late 70s-80s hits. Although I really love Rod's bluesy rock style from his early career, these hits do have a comfortable familiarity to them (must admit I do like numbers like "Baby Jane and "Young Turks" and (sheepishly admitting) even "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy"

Rod was really good in concert back in the 1980s - saw him twice. Used to kick soccer balls to the audience.

On a side note, for Halloween, watched The Wicker Man - had forgotten about Rod's romance with Britt Ekland (hubba hubba)

Britt Ekland and Rod Stewart, ca. 1975. : r/OldSchoolCool

Sigh....Some Guys Have All the Luck :)
