The Beatles - The Beatles (1968)

The Beatles - The Beatles - album cover

Unlike some recent posted albums, now something familiar and quite welcome :)

First listen re: David Ackles as above - kind of a Scott Walker meets Gordon Lightfoot sound, presaging the 1970s singer-songwriter sound

Also first listen for me of CQ - assumed initially The Outsiders was the garage band who did "Time Won't Let Me" appearing on the Nuggets comp. Nope a DIFFERENT Outsiders - this one Dutch, the "Time Won't Le Me" group was from Cleveland.
This Outsiders' CQ is (per AllMusic):

Embarrassed for not knowing this one - it's indeed a pretty good example (though weirder that most) of psychedelic garage rock of the era.
These guys are great too!

The Smoke - The Smoke (1968)

The Smoke - The Smoke - album cover

First listen - another example from Mojo of some pretty good psychedelic rock/pop with some baroque pop touches. I'd listen again.

Last 60s Brit folkies/prog guys were such nerds. Example: song title "Hobbit Symphony"

The Insect Trust - The Insect Trust (1968)

The Insect Trust - The Insect Trust - album cover

First listen: Mojo introducing me to a number of new albums that are lesser-known psychedelic gems - oh sure none of them have been instant classics but most have been worth the listen. This has a Big Brother feel with vocalist Nancy Jeffries more folksy that Janis' bluesy bent. With addition of banjo, fiddle and harmonica, the group integrates bluegrass into their psychedelia.
Interesting hodgepodge of performers including Rolling Stone journalist Robert Palmer (not that one). Coltrane drummer even would drum on their second album

Bee Gees - Odessa (1969)

Bee Gees - Odessa - album cover

Haven't spun this in awhile - just wonderful baroque pop.

Also contains one of the trilogy of songs (all wonderful songs) from the late 60s about seeing a face
The Byrds "Have You Seen Her Face" (1967)
Love "Always See You Face" (1969)
Bee Gees "You'll Never See My Face Again" (1969)

A lot of face-seeing (or not-seeing) in the 1967-69 years
