Art Hickman - The San Francisco Sound vol. 2 (rec. 1920-21, Archeophone comp. 2005)
The San Francisco Sound! Fuzzed out guitars, screaming vocals, psychedelia in full flower, right? Well, no. Art Hickman had the first dance band to feature saxophones, starting a trend that culminated in the big band era. They were the rage of the Bay Area between 1917 and 1921. This disc collects the second batch of their recordings for Columbia. Archeophone did their usual fine job with remastering these old acoustic recordings.
