Gaylord Carter - Music From The Golden Age of Silent Movies (1962)
Vinyl Rip Of The Day.
Gaylord really pulled out all the stops for this one.
He was the preeminent composer and performer of silent film music. I had the pleasure of working closely with Gaylord on a legal matter for several years. A nicer man you wouldn't want to meet. He performed frequently here in the L.A. area right up to his death. A remarkable number of film buffs idolized his work and turned out for his performances to cheer him on.
Idris Muhammad - House Of The Rising Sun(1973)
From the album cover photo and title, I was expecting some spiritual jazz. Instead, this is more like a party of hot jazz bubbling over. I'm not complaining, just a little surprised.
