Jason Isbell - Sirens Of The Ditch

Getting ready for his show next Friday. Hard to believe it's been 10 years since this came out.

The Smithereens - Especially For You (1986)

Various Artists - The Rough Guide To The Music Of The Alps (2002)

Music that takes you higher. As Groucho Marx used to say: "The Lord Alps those who alp themselves."

Jason Isbell

He's probably one of my favorite songwriters of the 2000s and on.

Yeah, he's pretty amazing. Saw him with the Truckers on the Dirty South tour and finally going to see him on his own next Friday.

NL: Jason Isbell - Something More Than Free

Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae - At Newport (rec. 1957, rel. 1958)

@Zeeba Neighba's Dizzy Gillespie post over at the Jazz Excursion got me started listening to the many recordings made at the 1957 Newport Jazz Festival. This album contains outstanding sets by three of the leading female vocalists of that or any other time. Ella was at her peak, Billie could still bring fire and Carmen offered a brash new challenge to the two veterans. Highest recommendation.

That's a good album  Now you've made me feel guilty for not keeping up with the jazz thread (and for not listening to more jazz lately) :(
Like MacArthur, I shall return....first let me satisfy Axo's needs and work on the 5000 songs list ;)

You may forego your sorceror's apprenticeship, and return to your ruts.

I won't tell you or post a photo of what is in that location now. You would cry.
But, curiosity is killing my kitteh.
