A highway off ramp and cheap hotel, and across the street a large parking lot in front of a cheap slots casino. There is an old aerial photo in the hotel lobby showing the venue during a concert. Next time I am down there I will take a picture.

Very sad. Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre met a similar fate, being demolished along with Wild Rivers Park to build apartments.

Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy - When I'm Calling You (ASV Living Era rec. 1929-1941, comp. 1994)

This excellent collection gathers the cream of the recordings by "America's Singing Sweethearts", both together and separately. They sold 78's and movie tickets in huge numbers to an audience battered by the Depression and seeking romantic escape. Light opera fell from grace with the arrival of WWII but the warmth and optimism of these charming sides lives on.

My dad used to tell me old Hollywood stories how those two disliked each other and how Eddy used to eat onions before singing the close duets face-to-face

Addendum: looking this up on Wiki, there's an alternate suggestion that despite rumors they disliked each other, they had an offscreen affair on-and-off for decades.
