Its' Yearly Playlist Thursday :)

Today the music of 1955 (and since the songs are so short :)) then 1956
We got early Elvis, Fats, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and even...Perez Prado and Mitch Miller's "The Yellow Rose of Texas" (which always makes me think of the final diner fight in Giant - you TAKE on that racist fry cook, Rock Hudson!)

Eartha Kitt - Live From The Cafe Carlyle (2006)

Here's another example of the amazing synergy among artist, venue and audience. The seductive Ms. Kitt showed to best advantage in a small, intimate supper club (remember those?) within easy eye contact of a sophisticated Upper East Side audience. At age 79, she had the crowd in the palm of her hand from the first note and drew them along swiftly for her entire show with a seamless blend of songs and multi-lingual patter. The versatile five piece group behind her handled flawlessly whatever she threw at them.

:5.0: Wish I had been there. :worm:
