What Movies Have You Seen Lately?

Yesterday I went to an actual theater to watch Rear Window (1954). It's 70 this year, and it continues to deliver. I'd forgotten how expertly Hitchcock does sexy with Kelly and Stewart exchanging hot-and-bothered, but muffled sweet nothings through their locked lips. So refreshing to see sultriness handled this way. Thelma Ritter is a gem. I went by myself, and that felt appropriate, as so much of the film centers on Stewart, alone in his apartment, spying on his neighbors. We got to be peeping Toms together.

The movie that made me first realize sexual feelings for a woman. Grace is still in my Top Five.

Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Happen…

1760826001032.jpeg

2016 documentary about the original 1981 production of Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along which failed miserable closing after 16 performances - of course, it now is on Broadway in the midst of a very successful run, but at the time, Sondheim and director/producer Hal Prince were unstoppable.
Trivia: George Costanza himself (Jason Alexander) was in the original production
