Junior’s Delicatessen, R.I.P. – News From ME

Because Mrs. Ojai and I both worked full time in our office, we wound up eating breakfast out a lot. After we bought a home in West Los Angeles, Junior’s Deli became our regular hang out. It was a huge operation with over 80 employees and a full scale bakery.
By the time we got there, Mr. Saul had passed the business on to his two sons. The food and service were both excellent for many years, although it was clear that the brothers did not get along. Eventually the quality dropped, the restaurant was sold twice and then went out of business. There are more details in Mark’s post from earlier this week.
Over the years, there were three restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area that became part of our lives. We have now survived all three of them.

If you thought (like me) that canned Hormel chili is bad, just try some off-brand no-name canned chili. Ugh.

We made chili dogs last night with a can of Hormel. Bland doesn't begin to describe it.

I find that problem only happens if you eat it more than once a week.
I think the meat in it is cut with oatmeal.

I ate the chili with hot dogs.

The guy found a simple loop hole that Mickey's should have noticed/remedies. Now that they called him out on it (which is lame as shit on their part), he is crying it has caused him "anxiety".
