The Black Album is a great hip hop album - I'm not sure it's ever considered in the upper eschelon of the genre, but probably should be

So delighted to revisit Streetcore again - has been a few years. Strummer's swan song :(

Room on Fire always starts well for me - "man this album is great" then somewhere in the middle I'm like "am I still listening to this". Not a good thing for a 32 min album (!)

Gotta admit - I've never listened to a Death Cab for Cutie album. Know a few singles. Why not start with what is regarded as their best?!

I dunno - underwhelmed - lyrically good but not something I'm getting excited about (hopefully it's not your favorite group ever - I don't think it is ;) )

I have seen them twice in concert. Once was at Coachella, after The Photo Album, but before Transatlanticism, came out. They were all dressed in white, like soda jerks from the 50s or 60s. Could have just been the heat and the bright sunlight out on the polo grounds during the day. They were not headliners, so daytime was their appointed time slot.

The next time was several years later, at the Wiltern Theater. This was after Transatlanticism and Plans. They were the headliners that evening. I was standing with my oldest son in the audience, in front of a pack of young ladies who knew all the words to "I Will Follow You into the Dark" and "Soul Meets Body." I have to be careful around young ladies, because I am invisible to them at my age, and I fear being trampled underfoot.

None of their songs are headbangers, to be sure. Most of the music is good and primarily acoustic. The lyrics are important to their appeal.

Yesterday and today have been getting through my 2004 playlist
In addition to singles/album tracks by Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, and The Killers that will come up again on album listens, have heard the pop singles of the year by artists like The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Snoop Dog, M.I.A., Gwen Stefani, Eminem, The Streets, Usher, and Ciara
(re: Ciara - I was intrigued in watching the Super Bowl what possibly Ciara and Roger Goodell could be possibly discussing in the luxury box watching the game (Ciara's husband QB Russell Wilson was between them looking like he wanted to escape)
