Audiophile Thread

Schiit introduces 4 new preamps. There will be a "contest", and only those that sell well will continue to be made. Those that don't will be immediately discontinued. I'm not sure this is such a good idea. Would you be willing to buy a product that might have a very limited run? I personally think I would wait to see what was popular enough to continue to be made and supported long term. But what do I know.

If I set the standard that I'm not an audiophile, just want to listen to music on decent speakers, what do you folks think of Sonos?

I quickly googled reviews, and they're all good, but they're all from tech sites, not audiophile sites. Sure, the tech is great. But what about the sound quality?

And if we don't hate wireless audio, are there other providers a person should research?

I'm a long way from pulling the trigger. There are higher priority expenses right now. So this is mostly curiosity at this point.

I've never heard Sonos, so I don't have personal knowledge of whether they're good or not. My advice is to audition them in person or buy them unheard from a source that has a good return policy.

I do have personal experience with a Bose Bluetooth speaker that I very much didn't like and that thing had excellent reviews from tech sites, too.

I don't have wireless speakers. I do have wireless headphones, which I rarely listen to but I don't hate them.

I have friends who have wireless speakers at home and they all love them. None are audiophiles. All like music, some just regular "like", some very much "like", but none who love music and listen to music as we do here. That being acknowledged, they are very happy with their speakers. And with you admitting you aren't looking for audiophile-quality speakers, there might just be something out there for you in the reasonably priced wireless market.
