I need to buy some decent, mid-priced speakers for my record player. Any brand suggestions or places to buy them these days?
Powered by the amp.Are you looking for self-powered speakers, or will you be powering them with an external amp?
Powered by the amp.
I had JBLs years ago. Great sound. The last set I had was Cambridge. Awesome sound!I'm a headphone guy, so I know almost nothing about speakers. However, I've read that JBL makes some good, affordable speakers.
Not to make this more complicated than it initially seems, but this is more complicated than it initially seems.I had JBLs years ago. Great sound. The last set I had was Cambridge. Awesome sound!
This morning, JR expressed sadness at this status.Neither of my turntables can be used at-present.![]()
I recently bought a new pair of Sennheiser HD600, as my old 6 year old pair was looking really rough.
I love this thing. I've been using an HD650 for a number of years, which is commonly thought of as being "better". I find the HD600 much more alive; the HD650 is warmer and bassier but sounds dull in comparison. The HD600 sounds more detailed, and the imaging is better.
The HD650 is going nowhere, I'm keeping both.
I want to update this: once the HD600 fully burned in, I found the difference between the 600 and 650 narrowed enough that I now slightly prefer the HD650 for its warmer tone. The HD600 is a little brighter, but I found the effect diminished as I put more hours on the phone. I also tried using an HD650 cable on the 600 and that made them harder to tell apart.
I'm happy to own both headphones and I will keep both.![]()
Copied from my Head-Fi post:
I was going to say something on late Wednesday or Thursday. The truth is I can't decide which one I like better. I listen to the HD600, and that scratches an itch. Then a few days later I listen to the HD650, and that scratches an itch.
This is why I will keep both.

Fact is, you have both. You never have to decide.
Nobody needs earwhigs with their ear worms. Now I just need to get an HD580 and I will have the series. Although, I have germophobia about buying a used headphone, I'd have to buy new pads. $$$
what about eartories?
