Audiophile Thread

I'm pretty sure I did the trial of Music Unlimited before. It was hard to track because each had albums the other didn't. It felt like the scales tipped in the direction of Spotify so I went back to that. I may check into it again. What's the cost?

If you have Prime and have had the trial before, it's $7.99 for three months, which is what they're charging me. I'm not sure what the cost is if you don't have Prime? Maybe $9.99? The regular price will be $12.99 (Prime member) or $14.99.

Not to make this more complicated than it initially seems, but this is more complicated than it initially seems.

There are not dozens of fine speaker makers; there are hundreds.

What sort of room are you intending to use? Is it multi-purpose; that is, do you intend to share it with your wife, or is it full-on man-cave?

Do you want a good-to-great set of bookshelf speakers? Do you want to place them on a desk, or mount them on pedestals?

Alternatively, do you want or seek floorstanders?

Boston Acoustics is good; so is Polk Audio.

Lastly, if you frequent Facebook; get on Facebook Marketplace for your area. Currently, in my geographical area, I see some handsome Klipsch KLF-10s, Bang & Olufsen speakers, and Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) speakers. If I did not already have my dream speakers, I might seriously consider some of those I see there.
Nick, did you buy new speakers as yet?

I was not being flippant with my suggestion as to go on / to check out Facebook Marketplace.

Looking at only the top three rows of audio equipment for the Orange County Area, these are what I located. I would imagine your area might have similar findings.

Starting at $120 a pair and moving up to $795 a pair:

Or he could get some speakers that are works of art.

Agreed. The Grande backside really does look like a work o' fart.

No, I haven't bought any speakers yet. Once the back room is finished and we move everything back in there and I set up my stereo, I will check out the local FB Marketplace. People sell everything there, and I am sure I could find decent speakers.

I tried to move my Schiit stack closer to me on my desk, which put my Mac mini further away. Then my Apple Watch stopped unlocking the mini. Had to put things back the way they were. :meh:
