Audiophile Thread

I'm doing a three month trial of Deezer Hi-Fi. It barely sounds better than Spotify and doesn't come close to Qobuz for sound quality.

It sucks that the one with the best sound quality, Qobuz, has the worst selection. And that the one with the best selection (for what I listen to), Amazon Music HD, has a really buggy Mac app and is clueless or unwilling to have the best settings/features for great sound quality.

So I eliminated Deezer from contention-- turns out it doesn't have gapless playback. In 2020. WTF?

I did confirm that Tidal DOES have gapless-- I used DSOTM test for both.

Tidal lossless in exclusive mode on the Mac has excellent sound quality, only second to Qobuz. However, when you press play, there is like a 3-5 second lag before the music starts playing. It appears Jay-Z is running on a shoestring budget for bandwidth. Oh well, I have almost 5 months before I have to give them any more money, I'll see if it improves or I can get used to it.

^ Don't be sad. I am used to it. It encourages me to stick the thing back in my ear or add a battery.

I know that I mentioned the Music program, where all frequencies open up. The good news is, it makes the music brilliant and come alive.

The bad news is, if I move my head much, it sends out a piercing feedback signal that is as incapacitating as a Vulcan death grip.
