Audiophile Thread

Is there a photo of it outside the box?

My secondary turntable is a Technics SL-1500 Mk II Quartz.

ETA: It looks like this one.

P. S. How much an audiophile am I? I literally had to walk over to the audio rack, with a flashlight and reading glasses, and read the identification directly off the deck. Did not remember it without looking.

P. P. S. I need to dust up there, also.

Must be quite an experience, opening something up from 2009 that's brand new.

I have not heard vinyl from an audiophile quality system, ever. My DAC and Amp are warm and analog sounding, and I like to imagine they sound something like vinyl, but I can't be sure.
As long as you believe it to be true, it is true for you.

Do not allow anybody, including me, to rob you of your belief.

That looks very similar to my Technics turntable, perhaps a bit fancier. I am going to grab a flashlight and my reading glasses and see which model I have. Good thing I dusted the shelf earlier this week.

Schiit builds insane (in their words) $1500 physical equalizer.

I'm not 100% sure yet, but I've pretty much switched from Audirvāna to a little music playing Mac app called Colibri that I bought over a year ago for the right price of $4.99. The player doesn't have a library, it just loads folders, but it has all the other features an audiophile could want, including exclusive mode and loading files to a RAM disk.

The sound is better than Audirvāna, being noticeably more detailed. Some albums can sound a little harsher, but I think the app is just perfectly neutral, whereas Audirvāna is a little smoother and warmer. My DAC is already warm and smooth, so sometimes Audrivāna is too much and makes things sound a little dull.

And no, I don't understand why music apps that are bit-perfect can sound different.

So I'm back to using Audirvāna. I found that while Colibri is more detailed and more "exciting," it is also considerably brighter and that leads to listening fatigue for me. If I only listened for an hour or two a day, it would be great, but I listen much more than that.
