Music Trivia Night!!

In the movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" what does the character Ramone recommend to play to get a girl in the mood for sex, and what song then is played? Tell me a bit more about it, too.

I only remember "Kashmir" being played, ostensibly on a first date.

I hope someone has a better (i.e., the correct) answer.

You are correct. It was "Kashmir". Damone (not Ramone) recommends playing side two of Led Zeppelin IV. "Kashmir" is on Physical Graffiti.

In addition to the online World Cuisine quiz (which I've been thoroughly enjoying despite sucking it up), I've been involved in a 70s music quiz as well (which I'm doing great in). Still I was surprised when I missed this one:

Q: What Zeppelin song begins with Bonzo saying "We've done four already but now we're steady"?

The Ocean

How I missed this one is inconceivable - I've heard the album it's on and the song a TON of times, but clearly never jacked up high enough to hear the low volume opener or on good quality headphones (my son embarrasingly (for me) got it instantly) to hear this opening phrase.

Ah well - just proves one can always learn something new. It happily didn't affect me winning my match

And for fun, here's one that's not too difficult if you're a fan (of the movie or the group) but I have never heard of the connection between the two:

Q: "One night Aerosmith took a break from recording to go see the new Mel Brooks movies Young Frankenstein. One punchline from the movie made them laugh so hard they stole it for a song title. What song?"

Walk This Way

Just heard an old interview with Sir Paul McCartney on satellite radio. According to him, what was the original name the Beatles wanted to name the album "Abbey Road"?

"Mt. Everest", because they thought it was going to be a big, and massive album, i.e. the Everest among albums. Then, they sat down and discussed the album cover art. None of them wanted to fly to the Himalayas to shoot a cover, so Paul suggested they just go out front and shoot the now famous photo in the crosswalk in front of Abbey Road studios. "It would take 10 minutes to shoot, and then we could be back inside working!" For a bit, they referred to the album amongst themselves as "Monastery Street" as well after that (monastery---> abbey, street--->road). Yeah. That doesn't really work for me either.

They could have walked backwards and still come up with the ideal title.

Originally, it was going to be called "More Overrated Music From The Most Overrated Band In History" but they were concerned it wouldn't fit on the cover.

Kidding! ;)
