"Mt. Everest", because they thought it was going to be a big, and massive album, i.e. the Everest among albums. Then, they sat down and discussed the album cover art. None of them wanted to fly to the Himalayas to shoot a cover, so Paul suggested they just go out front and shoot the now famous photo in the crosswalk in front of Abbey Road studios. "It would take 10 minutes to shoot, and then we could be back inside working!" For a bit, they referred to the album amongst themselves as "Monastery Street" as well after that (monastery---> abbey, street--->road). Yeah. That doesn't really work for me either.
