Our Next Musical Venture?

Zeebs, I am sure we will follow your lead on this, but how much do you want us discussing the release when we make it public? Should we prepare an opening or closing statement, or play it by ear, fly by the seat of our pants, or insert your own hackneyed cliche here?

Lastly, does any of this really matter?

I think you can just slap your kneecaps and call it a day.

I will be submitting my curriculum vitae into the records via the exhibit file, but you can make movements to get your own lemonade, judge.

Please feel free to mix it with whatever adult libation you prefer.

I know everyone’s different with their verbosity so However much you feel comfortable. You know I’m gonna have several sentences on how I brooded over this or that album but chose what I did because of x,y, and z. Others might just say “Really kickin’ polka album!”
Hopefully somewhere in the middle - maybe a couple of sentences

I hope all those participating will listen to the album over the week ans at least say “Harrumph!” :)

I do believe that you have just fired off the starting gun, Nick.
And off they go! There's Zeeba in his running silks, followed closely on his heels by LP freak! It is anybody's guess at this point where this match will end. Hold on! There's Nickyboy, rounding the corner and hot on the heels of Worm! But wait! She's not a contender! She's just a listening by- stander! God only knows how this race will end! And now here come the whippets, fast on everyone's heels. It is anyone's guess how this will all pan out! Stay tuned for the latest results!

I'm already at the finish line, drinking a cocktail.

MGers, with the lengthy 60 Years of Great Music series coming to a close, I was trying to think of another project that would be fun and also potentially keep the folks that post occasionally/checked in for the series coming back for more.

When I first discovered the MG in 2009, the thing I was searching for was an album club akin to book discussion clubs, and indeed really enjoyed the thread where someone would nominate an album, everyone would listen over the week and comment. I discovered a lot of great albums with that series (even the ones I know it was nice revisiting). I even to this day have an album club of sorts with my wife and son where we each pick an album from a certain year and listen.

Gauging interest in who would be game. I'm not expecting large numbers - I think we could have a great series with even 4-5 interested participants
My only suggestions re: format is that we randomly generate a year (perhaps between 1960-2017) and the person has to pick an album from that year (if you have a small group, perhaps everyone picks from that year or maybe the next person moves on to the next year). That way we get a range not only of styles/choices but also time frames.
Also IMO picks can be any genre and could be rare gems or well-known albums. I'm sure many will pick lesser appreciated albums but if all of a sudden one week someone nominates Dark Side of the Moon, I would gladly listen and love hearing discussion about it in the ensuing thread.

Post here if you'd be interested in participating (obviously anyone can listen to the albums suggested but looking for people who would nominate an album and join in discussion in the thread). If we have enough, we can start next week :)
I would like to, but attemptance is futile. I don't have mental bandwidth to visit the MG regularly, much less participate in fun musical adventures. I shall enjoy via y'all's participation.

First album up. Feel free, future posters, to use my thread as an example.

Very excited though I remembered my last album club selection from years ago, Elvis Costello's Get Happy!!, an album I love, love, love but at the time everyone else commenting were just meh about it. :(

Randy, I feel your pain. You may have observed that I’ve been a feeble participant in the 60 Years of Great Music threads. Your input, large or small, is always welcome.

Sunday of each week is the day for posting of the selected album. When will you make the next person aware of the randomly-generated year from which to select the album?

And yes, I am fully aware that I have not chimed in yet on this week's posting. To misquote Mingus, I gotta git it deep in my soul.
