No more vomiting emoji here, ay?

Alright, "random food thought" placement is questionable, but we didn't have a Random Fireplace Thought" thread ;)

I love the idea of Whole Foods, except the price part of it.

I haven't shopped at Whole Foods in years, many years.

Monday, I went to Whole Foods with my daughters. We got some fresh fruit, eggs, and a few other things. Throughout the week, the girls remarked several times how the Whole Foods food tasted better than the other food we had at home. I'm glad they noticed a difference, but I'm not trying to make this a regular thing. But maybe another visit or three will be fun :nickyboy:

Using your Amazon Prime discount? ;)

I can't see doing my regular shopping there, but some of the items are very good and hard to find elsewhere. And when chicken wings are on sale? I'm there!

Home delivery (at no rate or a nominal rate) would be awesome!

I knew Amazon owned WF, but my brain failed to make the logical assumption (or simply remember, if I ever knew) that an Amazon-related discount was a natural fit.

This is the second bag in a row of baby-cut carrots that have gone slimy on me. I wonder how long these sit in the warehouse before they hit the shelves? I'm going back to slicing up fresh, adult carrots. Celery and radishes too, while I'm at it.

Did you know that "baby carrots" are just adult carrots that have been shaped on a food lathe? The scraps go into commercial soups and animal feed.

As for slimy veggies, you can wash them when you get home in a bowl of cool water with a splash of white vinegar in it. Then drain, and wrap in paper towels and put in a plastic bag kept open loosely at the end. They should keep better that way.
We bought a few boxes of what we call "veggie keeper" bags at the supermarket last year when we were in Switzerland. They are plastic bags that have microscopic holes all over them so food inside can breathe and things don't get soggy and rot. It's amazing how long a head of lettuce and scallions last in these bags. They were quite inexpensive and can be used over and over. I am sure you could find something like that on Amazon or Sur la Table.
