Random Food Thoughts

We went to the newish Asian supermarket in Providence this morning. Glad to say I finally found a source for head-on shrimp and blue crabs! I also got a bag of durian fruit candy to try. I just opened the bag and almost fell over from the smell. But the candy is tasty. I am gong to keep the bag outside on the porch. I also came across this in the noodle aisle:

Hmmmm. Only $3.99? And non-fried?! Wow!

We got an Instant Pot Mini the other day and made gumbo last night. Amazing. Super tender chicken thighs, and done in 1/2 hour. Wow!

This morning I noticed that the Quaker Oats guy (“nothing is better for thee than me”) has gone missing from my new box of Life cereal.

Too bad. Larry (for that is his nickname within the company) lost weight a few years back to look more contemporary.

Yet another example of age discrimination.

Me, too. I think Unsom has some workaround that he uses.

Otherwise, I'm out of luck for NYT for a very long time. Life's tough being a cheapskate like me.

If you delete cookies and cache for NYT in your browser, it resets the counter. However, I swear that I reach my limit after only 3 articles now, so it's not worth it to be constantly doing the workaround. I would subscribe, but I can't justify paying $10 a month for one news source, no matter how high quality. I just mostly read the NYT headlines on Google News now.

That's what I do for WAPO articles.
