Random Food Thoughts

Kids are bored.
So are foodies. Here are some current items from two super trendy LA restaurants that seem pretty much in the same vein.

Here’s Looking At You, a Koreatown multiculti fave, offers:

-Chicken hearts, beni shoga, kewpie, lemon, chili

-Escargot, lardons, mint, garlic, lemon

-Bone marrow, poor man’s xo, perilla, gem, lime

-Frog’s' legs, salsa negra, scallions, lime, s&p

Over at Vespertine in Culver City on the westside, the $1,200 prix fixe includes:

Giant Kelp

This thing arrives on the table shaped like an upright circle you assume is the portal to the unknown dimension. But it’s not. It’s a very fragile and unremarkable piece of kelp that just tastes like crackers.

Mango And Redwood

A small slice of jelly shaped like a wooden Jenga piece, the texture on this guy is smooth and pretty great. The problem is, there’s almost no taste to it.

Food as theatre in the Town of Tinsel. :meh:

Today I saw a McDonald’s, Burger King and a Taco Bell that were within 1 minute walking distance from each other. I have never lived near such a wonder monstrosity.
