Random Food Thoughts

I have had at least two very good to great peaches this Summer. I anticipate having even more.

I miss getting fresh, New Jersey peaches. You can't, you just can't, get a good peach in New England.

^ I don't get it.

It's the PLU for bananas.

In retail, PLU stands for Price Look-Up, a four- or five-digit code used primarily on fresh produce, nuts, and bulk items to identify them for pricing at the point of sale. These standardized, universal codes are coordinated globally by the International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) and help cashiers efficiently and accurately ring up produce items by specifying the type, variety, and sometimes growing method (organic, conventional)

As one commenter said: "If you work in a grocery store it's the one number you end up memorizing, whether or not you like to. #plu #banana #ufcw #meijer "
