Random Music Thoughts

Many artists I listen to make the last track on the album the longest, and often more than 6 minutes long.
Yes, I could tell from your comment that this must be a statement that was true for you.

Perhaps I should have worded my request differently.

[hmm... thinka thinka thinka]

:aha:

[I think I will.]

After much thought, please do the following (if you will):

Describe for me why the longer duration of the last track on an album is an issue for you.

Because if there's something I need to do, I am waiting for the album to finish so I can get up and do it. I am a completist and finish listening to albums I start.

I'm not sure how much more I can explain this? As much as I enjoy an album, having a very long track on the end makes it feel like it goes on too long.

The luxury of middle class living where you don't have to worry about disturbing your neighbors.

And yes, some of the older people who live around me would literally be disturbed by some of the music I listen to.
Are you ready for the next question?

Is there any difference between a musical completist and a musical perfectionist?

I’ve noticed that too. I’m just glad it’s the last track. I feel a twinge of guilt but if I’m not enjoying that last track I do just skip it and move on. I’ve listened to the rest of the album so I feel like I’ve paid proper respect. I have a feeling that’s why they do it on the last track. They know they’re going to lose some folks on it. It’s the tl;dr generation out there.

I agree with Rick on this one too (guess we're just two old grumps ;))...especially not a fan of the 8 minute final track where the song ends after 4 min then there's the 1-2 minute of silence before the "hidden track"
Especially a 90s extravagance

If you're gonna do it, do it like the Beatles with "Her Majesty" - short pause, succinct track

John Lennon would have turned 79 years old today. I wonder what he would think of today's music and if he would still be putting out his own.

Although I don't think he'd be as prolific as Paul, I suspect he would
Though I doubt we would've seen a true Beatles reunion, I suspect (like George and Ringo) there would have been some periodic appearances with Paul on stage
At least it's nice to think so...

My obligatory annual post about potential Rock and Roll HOF nominees:

Judas Priest, Motor Head, NIN, MC5 - depending on who is selected could be a heavy rockin' ceremony

Would like to see T.Rex in, though realize that their quality discography is limited - still Electric Warrior and The Slider are just perfect

Today on the train I was sitting behind a 40ish guy who was grooving to music on earbuds. Suddenly, he started banging on his phone and screaming at it. Looking over his shoulder, I could see his radio app was frozen. His choice of music?

Our local “feel good music” station. :axo:

I would prefer KROQ.
