Random Music Thoughts

I apologize in advance to Unsomnambulist for not putting this in the Coronavirus thread.

But why would one want to create a bagpipe in a presumably bagpipe-free environment?

Abbey Road Crosswalk Gets Touch Up

You know, with two Beatles lost to the earthly realm and the remaining two not getting any younger, a stray thought floated through my head. When Paul McCartney finally does pass away, do you think there will be "Paul Is Alive" conspiracy theories?

How did I miss this - Mike Judge (Beevis and Butthead, King of the Hill, Silicon Valley) has done an animated documentary series first on country music stars then on funk stars (Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Rick James).
Guardian article came out today, but Wiki says series was in 2017-18. I think it was originally on Cinemax but the article is focusing on its upcoming debut on Now TV (which is British I believe - makes sense given The Guardian is UK based)

I gotta look for this one

There was this Soul Asylum album that I loved. I think I grew to love it through sheer repetition. I listened to it on cassette. I revisited it 15 years later and was struck by how commercial and MOR it was. And mediocre, too. If it had been great I would've ignored the commercial sheen. But it wasn't.

I saw a mention of John Prine's Great Days: Anthology on a site and decided to check on its availability.

SwapaCD.com lists that 29 people have this on their wish lists. I have never seen a number that high (on that site) for those wanting an album, much fewer those wanting a double-CD set.

On Amazon, the set goes for $114.96. On discogs, there's one for sale at $235. [I have no idea what the prices were before his recent death.]

As with any anthology, it does include many, many great songs, but some of the songs it does not include are: "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You into Heaven", "Diamond in the Rough", "Mexican Home", "Often Is A Word I Seldom Use", "Accident (Things Could Have Been Worse)", "Way Down", "Hobo Song", "Chinatown", "Ubangi Stomp", "Bottomless Lake", "Let's Talk Dirty in Hawaiian", and "Jesus the Missing Years".

You may stop reading now, as I'm done.
