Random Music Thoughts

Harrumph. Why, when I was their age, I paid my dues the hard way.

I was copying cassettes off of a phonograph speaker with a chintzy knockoff microphone.

That's just a joke, right? Even I had a Radio Shack combo stereo that could copy from records to the deck. Did have to set the VU meters, though.

Something like this, but mine you had to manually set the recording level and it had meters. Oh, and the record player would always gouge grooves in the records, forever making me hate vinyl.

Edit: I'm surprised the RIAA didn't sue Radio Shack out of existence for allowing people to make tape copies of records.

Dang, that was too newfangled for me, and my room was much too small, having been made from two converted shoe boxes.

I didn't exactly do that in college. However, starting in junior high, and continuing through college, I did sometimes record with two boom boxes face-to-face. A broke desperate boy will do what it takes to get the music he needs.

I didn't own my first dual cassette player (or stereo) until I was around 23.

I have heard so much raving and gushing about this show, I can't wait for the entire season to become available so I can watch it. It's nice to know so much attention was paid to the soundtrack.

Today is Earth Wind & Fire day. Apparently, because the song "September" includes the lyrics, "Do you remember, the 21st night of September?" Sept 21 is sort of an official EWF day.

I think I know what I'm listening to today.
as if I need any extra reason to listen to EWF
