Random Music Thoughts

This has been frenetic (and not at all fun) week at work (and my posting has suffered for it - apologies), but I noticed something interesting. In the middle of craziness, rather than choose a particular album, I've gravitated to just spinning greatest hits comps - Blondie, Simon & Garfunkel, The Cars, Sinatra - rather than go with those groups' albums (which get play be me at other times). Some kind of Freudean regression to musical comfort food? Who knows? It seems like top familiar albums I like should serve the same purpose. Just an observation
I love greatest hits comps. Saves me from having to hit the skip button.

Sounds like you and I work the same way, @Zeeba Neighba. Most of the day I have music running unless I'm on the phone. If I'm doing something intense, I choose comps or shuffle some big block of music like our Great Music playlists. Listening to an album, especially a new or "important" one requires more concentration to track the relationships among songs.

Guess our appointment is over. I think we are making real progress with your issues, Zeeba. See you next week.

A local radio station here in RI, WBRU, has been playing "alternative" and classic rock since 1948. Last night at midnight, it shut down and immediately restarted as a Christian rock station. I am not sure anyone was looking for that. We'll see how long it is until it changes to an all news format.

1948, or 1988? 1948 is a little early for alternative.

Been listening to that station since college days when I could tune it in. :(
