Random Music Thoughts

A soundtrack played over the speakers of that Highland Park Village Gap store as the customers browsed. Perhaps for them, it was in the background of their experience in that store, but for Bise, it was at the forefront.

He had an ear for music. He was a DJ in college. But this carefully crafted mix of music was like nothing he'd heard before.

"You know, classic R&B, and then it's followed by a modern pop song and then followed by acid jazz and then trip hop or something," he said.

I have a feeling I am the only member here who watched the 2022 Eurovision contest. There were many boring, blah, and hum-drum entries (as you would expect), and then the "typical" Euro-discopop entries as well. SPOILER ALERT: Ukraine won this year, and while their tune was pretty good, I feel that they won votes based on pity votes for what they are going through with Russia's war against them. Fair enough, and they can use the moral boost right now!
However, I think the most interesting entry was a band named Konstrakta (construction) fronted by a woman who is actually an architect. There are a few videos of her stuff on youtube (hmmm....maybe she is getting out of the "konstracta" biz and going into music?). Anyway, I find her interesting. I look forward to seeing if she veers off into music away from architecture. While most songs are sung in English for the competition, she sang hers in her native Serbian, combined with Latin. Check it out.
