Random 2025 thoughts (musically):
Interesting year of listening - granted with a couple weeks late
Per last.fm (believe I posted this last year), 2024 was my most listening in 10 years (per scrobble data at least)
This year, 4000 less songs - what gives?

Maybe longer format songs with some more jazz/classical
But in reality, when I do some resident teaching or my schedule is busy, just can't listen as much

This makes me :(

But hey 2026 coming
1) I think though past two years I have retreated back to comfort food listening - familial artists, old songs - will probably make a conscious effort at keeping up with newer music. Not that I'm gonna abandon the old stuff that slaps (see already embracing new lingo :)) but will mix it up a bit more
2) I will be completing the 1001 Classical Recordings to Listen to Before You Die List - I have 11 left - woohoo! My wife and I are actually going to embark on a joint weekly classical listening project - go us! 31 yrs of marriage and completely different musical interests and doing this
3) Continuing my yearly Thursday playlist - started at 1955 and now up to 1962. So by year end should be well into 21st century

Musical resolutions!!
Will I succeed!
Will this distract me from that damn Penguin Jazz project!
Do you really care? :)

So not sure if others did their Spotify Unwrapped this year which of course was not a good reflection on my most listened to numbers/artists
Last fm has several Bruce tracks as my top tracks - "Badlands" coming up on top with 11 listens
Spotify has my top track "867-5309/Jenny" :( - only listen as part of an 80s playlist which I broke out 7x so all the songs on that list are equal
Do better, Spotify!

But to nobody's surprise my listening age per Spotify was in the 70s - yes 20 yrs older than my actual age, but given the 50s-70s stuff I spin often, not surprising.

But I call bullshit on a guy I went to med school with, another neurologist and as old and stodgily as I am posting ON FACEBOOK that his Spotify age was THIRTY. Come on - to achieve that he'd have to be spinning a ton of Sabrina Carpenter and "Baby Shark" to balance out older music even if he listening to 90s music more than my 70s and 80s.

Also my wife got recorded message from Jon Stewart for listening to his podcast frequently
Another friend got a message on Spotify from Taylor Swift

I got NADA - what Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney too hoity-toity to record a fan message for folks like me who spin their stuff all the time!
