Random Music Thoughts

Springboarding from my thoughts in the Listening thread, was very philosophical about certain songs

Though typically listen to Spotify, I haven't yet given up my Sirius XM in the one car left that has it - my wife jettisoned it due to cost awhile back.
I think I just like the surprise/anticipation of something different

Oh sure, on a classic rock station, more time or not it's gonna be "More Than A Feeling" or "Carry On Wayward Son" or "Start Me Up" but man I used to love the mild endorphin bump back in the day of listening to WNEW-FM NY and hearing a B-side or less played track

The other day on 1975 playlist the Outlaws "Green Grass and High Tides" came on - not my favorite song but one of those songs that only occasionally came up in whatever old radio stations algorithms were - so I gave a brief, happy "oooh" and listened on.

So Flamin' Groovies "Shake Some Action" just came on my 1976 playlist and I got that same feeling (especially as it followed songs like "Hotel California", "Go Your Own Way" and "Dancing Queen" that are good songs but you do hear all...the...time.

:agree:

We still listen to SiriusXM during our regular 2 hour drives from Ojai to LA and back. There are several channels that Mrs. Ojai and I can agree on: Willie's Roadhouse (Classic Country), 40's Junction, 50's Gold, 60's Gold, 70's on 7. I look for channels that have DJ's in the hope that they will play something we haven't heard in a while. Also, folks like Paula Nelson and "Shotgun Tom" Kelly bring back the fun of live radio.
