I just heard "Polk Salad Annie" for the first time in nigh on thirty years, last evening. I must have missed the announcement.

ETA: Why did I think it was "Poke Salad Annie"?
Ah, thanks.Perhaps because the plant is the pokeweed?
When saying “poke sallet” or “polk salad,” one is referring to the prepared (cooked) food dish utilizing the pokeweed leaves and not a “salad” made using raw pokeweed leaves, and as it turns out, this is a very important distinction to keep in mind for the purposes of toxicity and eating this food safely.
I never had it with the leaves, but with the young shoots when they come up.Ah, thanks.
We go any deeper down this swamppatchpath and we'll be headed over to Nick's cajun bistro.
Roy Hargrove, Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter, has left the stadium at age 49: https://www.npr.org/2018/11/03/6638...gjutWdOAoGG4cIv14a8M4Bvku_8wRysqArZ6zQq1GFDuo
As I transitioned into becoming a Jazz fan, Roy was one of the first musicians that struck a chord with me, and he continued to be one of my favorite up to this day. When I heard the news report of his death that morning, it was truly a jaw-dropping moment. I was driving the kids to school and was simply stunned. Selfishly, I can't believe I never got a chance to see him perform live.Roy Hargrove, Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter, has left the stadium at age 49: https://www.npr.org/2018/11/03/6638...gjutWdOAoGG4cIv14a8M4Bvku_8wRysqArZ6zQq1GFDuo
