He toured actively right up to the end.
Just last night on the way home from a show, I mentioned surf guitar to my date. She really enjoys music but didn't know what it was. (She grew up near Pittsburgh. Not exactly surf country.) So I spent a little time explaining it and we had a conversation about surf guitar, the bands and the hits. Little did I know Dick Dale had passed away that very day.
