Just last night on the way home from a show, I mentioned surf guitar to my date. She really enjoys music but didn't know what it was. (She grew up near Pittsburgh. Not exactly surf country.) So I spent a little time explaining it and we had a conversation about surf guitar, the bands and the hits. Little did I know Dick Dale had passed away that very day. I guess his spirit was in the air, infecting his fans as he walked up the stairs to heaven. RIP to the king.

Heard this on the radio yesterday. I remember as a teenager, awash in rock and roll, seeing him perform on TV and becoming a fan regardless that his music was so far out of my norm.
