Vera Lynn, singer and British forces' 'sweetheart,' dies aged 103
British singer Vera Lynn, whose sentimental ballads during World War II provided the soundtrack for the Allied war effort, has died at the age of 103, according to a statement from the Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity on Thursday.www.cnn.com
Man, 103 - that's a life!
So, who really won that fiddling battle?Redneck, bigot Charlie Daniels dead at 83.
So, who really won that fiddling battle?
You guys obviously didn’t listen closely:I once asked a group at a party who they felt one, because I've always enjoyed the Devil's fiddling more. Was surprised how many people felt Johnny won. Then one guy noted (correctly) that the devil's fiddling was helped significantly by an awesome bassline (which was played by a demon)...so with that in mind, possibly Johnny did deserve that golden fiddle![]()
^ The devil it is.
Well, in any event, the music world lost a truly great one.
So....
RIP Ennio Morricone.
So Nicky, what are you going to listen to?
Cinema Paradiso?
The Mission OST?
The Good, The Bad, and... Yo Mama (...Loves You)?
If anyone is aware of a good-to-great Morricone compilation, I'd be much obliged if you'd share your information.Thing I learned today:
I hadn't realized Morricone did the score for John Carpenter's The Thing
Shout out for his penultimate score - Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight - which won him an Oscar
Aside from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, I'd go with The Mission or with Once Upon A Time in the West
