This self-reply is a reminder to myself that I'm getting old enough to say "I never have to listen to this album again in my life". How can one appreciate the artistry of an album so much - its multi-instrumentalism, Indian music influences, musical style - and yet find it so disagreeable to hear. I can barely get through it - in fact, during my last listening series this album came up, and I'm pretty sure I said the same thing to myself. Hopefully this time I'll remember.

I wish you had told me before I went and bought a copy! :vic:

The Byrds - The Notorious Byrd Brothers (1968)

Mojo didn't include Younger Than Yesterday (which is my favorite), but was very happily surprised to see this one on the list - an underrated gem (although perhaps not underrated - on RYM it has the highest rating of all Byrds albums followed by Younger).

The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle (1968)

Stating the obvious, I know, but a wonderfully perfect pop album - the lesser known "Hung Up On a Dream" is just achingly beautiful not to mention the more obvious "This Will Be Our Year"..."Changes"..."Care of Cell 44"...the list goes on

Billy Nichols - Would You Believe (1968)

First listen for me, but very good psych-pop/baroque-pop. Influential album on dream pop, I wonder? Still, a good listen.

Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968)

Aside from the iconic and often joked about title track, not sure why this album made the list as it's just an OK psych-rock album, but fine with listening again
