Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra & Choir (Carlo Maria Giulini, cond.) - Schubert: Mass No. 6 (1996)

Schubert's final Mass is a stunning work, performed beautifully under the baton of Carlo Maria Giulini. The conductor was well known for opera but handled sacred music such as Verdi's Requiem and this piece with majesty and grace.

Mitch Miller & The Gang - Peace Sing-Along (1970)

At the height of the folk music boom in the early 60's, Mitch Miller created his own retro wave by serving up the top hits from a half century earlier on TV for the older generation to sing along with. By the end of the decade, the folkies and Mitch and were both passe, so it actually made sense that Miller would unleash his 25 male singers on a batch of surprisingly well selected and performed folk evergreens. The only song that falls into Leonard Nimoy "Golden Throats" territory is the frenetic 5 minute cover of "Give Peace A Chance". If Mitch wasn't actually on LSD, maybe he had too much coffee that day or something. The remaining ten songs succeed for the same reason his remakes of old pop tunes did: he treats them with respect and genuine enthusiasm that never veers into camp. His old labelmate Pete Seeger would be proud.

Walter Smith III & Matthew Stevens - In Common III (2022)

These two guys are on a great run. Basically, each IC album features these two and three other fantastically talented Jazz musicians, punching out some melodic Jazz tunes that don't stretch out into 12-minute deep explorations. This time they're joined by Dave Holland, Terry Lyne Carrington, and Kris Davis. Because of the shifting contributors, each album has a distinctly discrete feel, but all are also recognizable because of the leaders.

Really cool stuff.

Speaking of acts to see live, I'd kill to see this band live! Alas, they recently completed their only planned tour and it was in Europe. I should have asked Nicky for the keys to his Swiss chalet so I could have caught the band in Muri!!

The Last or Lost Chord?

Sorry, I was busy channeling the spirits of The Moody Blues.

Hmm, that dog don't hunt. They were in search of the lost chord.

The 'a' and 'o' on my qwerty keyboard are too close.

Dang, that is patently untrue.

I was so deeply into the vibe of this here vibrational music that I didn't notice.

That's it. I found it. The Lost Chord. Thank you.

Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic (1975)

Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic - album cover

Sometimes I feel a bit pedestrian posting my albums compared to the eclectic selections others have posted above (many of those groups I've never heard of ).
On the other hand, I'm not sure I've broken out this one in 5 years so, though I am falling back to familiar albums, they're not exactly ones I listen to often.
In any case, the ear wants what the ear wants
