Miles Okazaki - The Trickster (2017)
I read the :2.5: review on RYM. I have a difficult time understanding how someone can rate something low when the only negative things that he can say are that it lacks melody and interplay. Then again, I haven't heard it, so what do I know? :axo:

More than reviews of other genres, Jazz reviews can leave me scratching my head. As with any review, I guess it's personal preferences and whatnot. I like and agree with that guys other reviews, but not that one.

Sometimes we (meaning I) don't connect with an album and try to create a reason when we (meaning I) haven't yet quite reasoned why the connection failed. I'll go with that for now, instead of considering JTG doesn't know what the bleep he's talking about.

EDIT: Comparing our ratings, it turns out he and I are within one star on 48 albums, and disagree on only 5 albums.

I'll gladly accept the differences of opinions on John Carter and Kamasi Washington. One's a little too "out" to garner similar reviews from otherwise bright listeners; the other is a little too recent and overhyped and maybe repetitive for some listeners.

But that JTG didn't appreciate Moving Still , Anacapa , as well as Trickster kind of makes me ... scratch my head and wonder if he has something against those musicians in general. Those are very good to great albums, in my extremely humble opinion.
