John Legend - A Legendary Christmas (2018)

It's always a little jarring when I hear a xmas album for the first time and a non-standard holiday song comes on. My first thought is, "did the album change when I wasn't paying attention? This isn't a xmas song." Then I realize it's a non-standard holiday song and I immediately downgrade it before it gets too far along. That happened a couple of times here, but the new holidays songs on this album aren't really bad. They might grow on me ... next year.

Aside: I was surprised to see that Legend had a cameo role in the movie "La La Land." Later in the movie, I was more surprised that his role was a little more than simply a cameo appearance. Still, he'd better stick to his day job. He acts about as well as Gossling and Stone sing -- passably, but not good enough to hold down the job permanently.

Sting - Ten Summoner's Tales (1993)

I have never heard this album before (though I know three songs from singles)
It's not bad - pleasant. Not sure I'd think of reaching for it again

When it was released, it was one of my favorites for a long time. I can sing along to every song, but I rarely listen to it much these days. Coincidentally, the Audience channel played a recent Paris concert of Sting's last night -- I recorded it to watch later.
