Ten Songs From...Television

1) "Mission: Impossible" by Lalo Schifrin
2) "Hawaii 5-O" by The Ventures
3) "Making Our Dreams Come True" by Cyndi Grecco
4) "Theme From S.W.A.T." by Rhythm Heritage
5) "Theme from The Rockford Files" by Mike Post
6) "Sanford and Son Them" by Quincy Jones
7) "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow (Baretta's Theme)" by Sammy Davis, Jr.
8) "Peter Gunn" by Henry Mancini
9) "Believe it or Not (Theme from 'The Greatest American Hero') by Joey Scarbury
10) "(Theme From) The Monkees" by The Monkees

Inspired by Cindy Williams recent passing (and the fact that the L&S theme song has been in my head all week). For better and worse, TV themes are part of us - some great, some(many) very cheezy.

Various Artists - Charles Peguri: Compositions 1907-1930 (Fremeaux et Associes comp 1994)
1675451091006.png
The son of an Italian accordion maker who emigrated to France during the Industrial Revolution, Charles mastered the instrument as a child. He (along with Emile Vacher) is credited as the father of musette music. Unfortunately, he succumbed to personal demons, dying by his own hand at age 51. This delightful collection features a dozen tunes played by Peguri himself as well as a sampling of his work performed by other leading artists.

Ten Songs From...Warren Zevon

1) Hasten Down the Wind
2) "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead"
3) "Carmelita"
4) "Desperados Under the Eaves"
5) "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner"
6) "Accidentally Like A Martyr"
7) "Lawyers, Guns and Money"
8) "Splendid Isolation"
9) "Detox Mansion"
10) "Keep Me In Your Heart"

Yes, his first two albums are represented heavily - only the most ardent Zenonphiles would say others are better - they're just so good. Still, a nice listen (but I should re-listen to his later stuff more)

Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox ~ The Essentials [Compilation] (2016)

The three items above are a part of the John Campagnolo Memorial Collection, recently left at my front door by his widow and my neighbor Maria.

I see Steve Marriott in there. How is that compilation?
This 5 CD box contains every recording ever released on Immediate by The Small Faces (Marriott, Lane, McLagan & Jones) plus a smattering of their Decca work and two songs by Marriott's earlier group, The Moments. There are rarities galore: alternate mixes, uncompleted backing tracks, posthumous releases, etc. Is it all essential? No, but I loved every minute. There isn't a bad track in the bunch.

If you add The Decca Years collection, similarly packed with obscurities, you'll have every note by the original incarnation of The Small Faces. They both fit comfortably on my shelf. How about yours? :worm:

They probably fit.

But, I need to check something other than my shelf before I figuratively pull the trigger on these purchases.
