J.J. Johnson & Kai Winding - Stonebone (CTI 1970)

Vinyl rip of the day.

This album has never been released except on a mythically rare Japanese LP. I can't imagine why; it is as outstanding as the lineup would suggest. The band really stretches out on the two long jams, balanced nicely with the two shorter tunes.

Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams - Contraband Love (2017)

The best country duet album I’ve heard in a long while. Insightful songs, Larry rocks on guitar and Teresa has the voice of an angel, albeit a troubled one. Highly recommended. This one goes on my Best of 2017 list for sure.

I suppose such questions are legit, as long as it 's an apples-to-apples comparison, but I cringed the day that one of Keith Jarrett's solo concert albums was placed up against one from TV on the Radio.

Then again, in other news, I wrote all of Shakespeare's plays.
