Speaking of which... well, sorta.... Did you ever see "Mike Nesmith's TV Parts"? It was on in the late 80s, I believe. Just a few episodes. But there was one with a Language Lab teaching someone how to speak Irish ("where are you going with those po-taaaatoes, Andrew?") and one with a Beauty Queen waving from the back of a Mustang. So, so funny.

No, but Mike Nesmith is on my bucket list of artists to study more carefully. Apparently his work in the cinematic arena is pretty interesting. Is TV Parts on YouTube?

Sounds like I've hit on the theme for our first MG party. :aha:
As long as we keep VU to under 1/2 day, we're good. :drink:
I would be happy to show up, but I may be, oh say, 1/2 a day late.

I owned that Monkees Head album on vinyl back in my pre-teen days. To be honest, I don't remember how I came to own it. But at the time I recognized it as an interesting move into psychedelia, far removed from their carefully engineered pop music. I've never seen the movie. I'd be interested, but I doubt I have the patience for it.

Retroactively from yesterday afternoon...

Tempering my dislike of Neil Young as a performer. This album is mostly pleasant. The title track was a good choice for the single.

Hitsville USA: The Motown Singles Collection 1959-1971

Perhaps my favorite box set - I break it out at least once/year. Ya just can't match the Motown singles output from the 60s. All the greats: Stevie, Supremes, Marvin, Tempts, 4 Tops, Jackson 5, but so many lesser known artists with great singles too. Perfect! Gonna play all 4 discs today

Jazz, Cajun, zydeco, blues, funk...it's all here. Well selected, too.

I had Village Ghetto Land running through my head. Since I couldn't identify any reason it should be there. I thought I ought to listen to it, in case there was a message from God or something like that waiting for me.
